CAREER-TECHNICAL
PROGRAMS -- COOPERATIVE EDUCATION
The
Cooperative Education
program assists students in making smart choices about a career by
helping them identify their abilities, interests and aptitudes.
Students are able to participate in work-site experiences in the
Florence area whereby they explore a variety of occupations through
on-the-job training. The goal of this program is for the student to
gain firsthand experience and information for making career choices.

This course
provides each student with the opportunity to evaluate career
choices, to develop a career plan and to prepare a career/employment
portfolio.

COORDINATED
STUDIES Semester 2

Studies Semester 1 -- (Grades 10-12)
This is a
continuation of Coordinated Studies Semester 1. Students explore
career opportunities and develop career plans and a
career/employment portfolio.

CO-OP
WORK-BASED STUDY
Up to 3 Units -- FEE: $10.00
Pre-requisites: Coordinated
Studies (completed or in progress) -- (Grades 10-12)
At
least 16 years old
Means of transportation to job site
Co-op
Work-Based Study informs students of many worthwhile wage-earning
occupations. They must be able to accumulate a minimum of 270 hours
in on-the-job training
per
semester per credit. Students receive wages as well as one, two, or
three units of credit and are excused from school each afternoon to
report to their training station.

CO-OP WORK
BASED STUDIES II/ SEMINAR
Up to 3 Units -- FEE: $10.00
Pre-requisite: One credit in
Coordinated Studies -- (Grades 11-12)
After
earning one credit in coordinated studies, students enrolled in the
Cooperative Education Program are required to participate in the
Coordinated Studies Seminar equivalent to one class period per
week. Course content includes: Career/educational plan, resume
development, transcripts, honors, awards, commendations, employment
credentials, work evaluations, job and/or college applications,
references, letters of recommendation, work samples, wage and hour
reports, and workplace issues. Students participate in work-based
learning experience related to the career objectives. (Computer
