Florence Career Tech offers a wide variety of opportunities for the students of Florence High School, as well as the Middle School program.  Students can choose from a variety of classes and fields.  Assignments and dates on each course syllabus may vary due to schedule changes, individual and group needs, and availability of materials, labs, and speakers.

Career Tech Work-based Student Learner Program

JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS (JROTC)

  • This course introduces students to the US Army Reserve Officer Training Corps
    (ROTC) program.

Agriscience Education / Carpentry and Construction Trades
Florence Middle School and Freshman Center

  • Agriscience Education provides students with classroom and laboratory instruction in the areas of environmental science, animal and plant science, drafting, woodworking and construction.  More Information --->


Automotive Service Technology

  • Automotive Service Technology provides students with classroom and laboratory
    experiences utilizing current and emerging technologies in automotive service theory
    and repair.

Career Technologies Program/Career Discoveries -- Florence Middle School -- 7th & 8th Grades

  • Career Technologies is designed to allow students an opportunity to explore a variety of technological careers. This career exploration includes concepts, practices, and careers associated with Communications Technologies, Physical Technologies, and Bio-Related Technologies. Students are provided opportunities to explore these technologies through the use of problem-solving approaches, teamwork, and hands-on activities that integrate technical academic, and knowledge skills applicable to the workplace. This semester course provides students with a broad base of career overviews. The Technology Student Association (TSA) is an integral component to the Career Technologies program. TSA involvement fosters leadership development, career awareness, school and community service, and technological literacy.  More Information --->


Cooperative Education

  • The Cooperative Education program assists students in making smart choices about a career by helping them identify their abilities, interests and aptitudes.  More Information --->


Cosmetology

  • Students enrolled in the Cosmetology program follow the established curriculum by the State Board of Cosmetology and State Department of Education. Students learn through classroom instruction and then apply their knowledge to hands-on experience.  More Information --->


Culinary Arts Program


Electronics Technology

  • The purpose of Electronics Technology is to provide students with a firm foundation in the basic of electronics.  The curriculum provides education and training in current and emerging technologies.  More Information --->


Engineering/Manufacturing/Welding

  • This program has been designed to fulfill the American Welding Society (AWS) Certification and general industry certification in construction and manufacturing technologies.  More Information --->


Family and Consumer Sciences

  • The mission of Family and Consumer Sciences Education is to prepare students for family life, work, and careers in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Opportunities are provided to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors needed for becoming responsible citizens and leaders.  More Information --->

Family and Consumer Sciences/Teen Living - Florence Middle School
7th & 8th Grade

  • Teen Living is a semester long exploratory course for grades 7 and 8. An emphasis is placed on understanding teenage physical,  intellectual, emotional, and social development. Course content provides opportunities for students to explore personal development topics such as interpersonal relationships with family members, friends, and peers. More Information --->

CAREERS IN EDUCATION

Students who enjoy school, are active in school and community groups, have strong
academic and study skills and enjoy working with people should consider taking this
project-based elective course. There is a high demand for talented teachers in
Alabama classrooms: as corporate trainers; and as school counselors, coaches, and
administrators. This course will help students prepare for choosing a solid career path
in education and be better focused on their career ambitions.

  • Graphic Arts Technology is a wide range of printing and publishing occupations since printing is expanding into a high-tech industry merging computer technology with production.  More Information --->
