COOPERATIVE EDUCATION
Cooperative Education is a structured component of the Career
Technical Education curriculum that integrates classroom instruction
and learning with productive, supervised work experiences in fields
related to a student’s career objective.
To be eligible for participation a student must meet one of the
following criteria:
- Successful completion of two
Career Tech courses related to the student’s career objective
- Successful completion of one
Career Tech course and one course from the list of State Approved
Related Other Courses?
- Enrolled in the second Career
Tech course and concurrently enrolled in Coordinated Studies
Cooperative
Education students must:
- Show successful completion of
10th grade
- Be at least 16 years old
- Provide their own transportation
to work
- Not be deficient on the High
School Graduation Exam
- Be physically and mentally
capable of performing the tasks of the career objective
Workforce
Essentials Seminar
These are required components of the CO-OP Program. The Workforce
Essentials class may be taken before or concurrent with the work-based
experienced. After earning one credit in Coordinated Studies,
students enrolled in Cooperative Education are required to
participate in the Coordinated Students Seminar equivalent to one
full class period per week. |
