TECH PREP

Tech Prep education is a planned sequence of study in a technical field beginning as early as the 9th grade. The sequence extends through at least two years of postsecondary education or an apprenticeship program of at lest two years following high school graduation. Tech Prep is an important school-to-work transition strategy.

Students are advised on a plan that is referred as the 4+2 Plan and the 4+2+2 Plan. These designs include an articulation agreement between secondary and postsecondary that includes a common core of proficiency in math, science, communication, and technology. The Tech Prep outcomes include 4 years of high school, an associate degree (2 years of postsecondary community college), and transfer to a 4 year baccalaureate program for the final 2 years.
