WHAT IS CAREER TECH?

Thank you for visiting the Florence City Schools' Career Tech Program's web site. We hope that it conveys the importance of these programs to the Florence City School System. You will find that Career Tech is committed to meeting the educational needs of a diverse population. Our programs offer challenging curricula that integrate employability knowledge and skills with academics. We are continuously seeking to prepare students for higher education, employment, and the ability to compete in the 21st Century Workforce.

Florence City’s Career Tech programs are 100% Business and Industry Certified (BIC) and have state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. All Career Tech teachers are highly qualified, certified and credentialed through the businesses and industries they represent. To maintain state, national and international certification standards, the programs and teachers are required to participate in a BIC Re-certification process

Career Tech programs begin at Florence Middle School with Family and Consumer Sciences and Career Technologies/Career Explorations. Programs in Family and Consumer Sciences and Career and Career Discoveries are also offered at Florence Middle School for 7th and 8th grade students. Sixteen career programs are available to students in grades 9 through 12 with over 50 different class offerings. As you will discover as you browse our site, Florence City can truly boast about the extensive career preparatory courses offered and the preparation of students for life after high school.

Literacy has been re-defined to include proficiencies in technological skills. Career Tech has accepted the challenge to help prepare students for competition in today’s global informational economy.
