WHAT IS
CAREER TECH?
Thank you for visiting the Florence
City Schools' Career Tech Program's web site.
We hope that it conveys the
importance of these programs to the Florence City School System.
You will find that Career Tech is committed to meeting the
educational needs of a diverse population. Our programs offer
challenging curricula that integrate employability knowledge and
skills with academics. We are continuously seeking to prepare
students for higher education, employment, and the ability to
compete in the 21st Century Workforce.
Florence City’s Career Tech programs are 100% Business and Industry
Certified (BIC) and have state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. All
Career Tech teachers are highly qualified, certified and
credentialed through the businesses and industries they represent.
To maintain state, national and international certification
standards, the programs and teachers are required to participate in
a BIC Re-certification process.
Career Tech programs begin at Hibbett Middle School with Family and
Consumer Sciences and Career Technologies/Career Explorations.
Programs in Family and Consumer Sciences and Career and Career
Discoveries are also offered at Florence Middle School for 7th and
8th grade students. Sixteen career programs are available to
students in grades 9 through 12. As you will discover as you browse
our site, Florence City can truly boast about the extensive career
preparatory courses offered and the preparation of students for life
after high school.
Literacy has been re-defined to include proficiencies in
technological skills. Career Tech has accepted the challenge to help
prepare students for competition in today’s global informational
